What to Expect with Eleven

Tennant's tenure as the Doctor is over, and I'll have occasion to flood you with Doctor Who-related posts in the next couple of weeks, don't you worry. To start things off, here's the trailer for the next Doctor Who series starring fresh-faced Matt Smith.

My impressions:
*Amy Pond is a bit of pretty, isn't she? Cute as a button.
*In case you didn't recognize her with the hair and glasses, that's Alex "River Song" Kingston acting all posh and falling into the Doctor's arms. Where does this fit in her timeline?
*Old enemies: Moffatt surprisingly brings back the Weeping Angels, oh and a Dalek.
*New enemies: I wonder if those vampires are in any way related to the Great Vampires the Time Lords fought (some of which appear in State of Decay).
*Could just be a coincidence, but it looks like that reptilian character is holding a revamped version of the Sea Devils' gun.
*So Geronimo IS going to be the catch-phrase to replace Allons-y.
*I love how surprised the Doctor seems to be that he's punched out someone.
*As for the Doctor firing a gun, if you piece the montage back together, it just looks like it's a starter pistol, though I do like how this Doctor might be a little better at "action" (echo of the 3rd Doctor?).
*Shame about the kissing (well, it's been done to death by now).
*Matt Smith sounds like the Doctor in both his lines (What have you got for me this time? and Trust me...). I'm convinced.

Excited yet?

Excited yet? Yes! I wouldn't have guessed Moffat would have brought back as many monsters and other characters as he apparently has, but perhaps it's been done to ease the transition for viewers (like me) who came into the show with Tennant. Spring can't come soon enough.

Aw, there you go making me miss Pertwee. Of course, Doctor Action Guy works best when you've got an older Doctor, and his manly capabilities are a testament to age and experience rather than youthful vitality.

That reptilian with the Sea Devil gun looked like a possible Silurian revamp.

And yes, the pistol scene is for a non-bodily-violent purpose, I'm sure.

Is it just me or does the Tardis look sort of different. I know there redesigning the inside (or at least they're supposed to be) but even the outside doesn't look quite the same...

Yes, it's thinner, for one thing. Closer to the original design.
